To bypass Qwen3's memory thresholds in Scam With Your Friends, you can use a hex editor to modify specific byte values in the game's Assembly-CSharp.dll file. This guide is based on the verified DLL version 0.1.82-swyf, Build 26040630. The modifications increase timeouts and lower VRAM and RAM thresholds, allowing Qwen3 to run on systems with less memory. However, these changes are experimental, may not guarantee stability, and do not reduce actual memory usage. Always back up the original file before editing.

Prerequisites

  • Game version: 0.1.82-swyf, Build 26040630 (addresses may change after updates).
  • A hex editor such as HxD.
  • Administrative access to the game's installation folder.
  • Backup of Assembly-CSharp.dll.

Preparation

  1. Completely close the game.
  2. In Steam, right-click the game, go to Manage → Browse local files.
  3. Navigate to: Scam With Your Friends_Data\Managed.
  4. Copy Assembly-CSharp.dll to a separate folder as a backup. Open the original in HxD and switch to Overwrite mode.

Increasing Timeout

These changes increase the waiting time for the first audio and preparation limits from 20 to 60 seconds. Note that the initial cancellation timer remains at 30 seconds and may interrupt synthesis earlier. Speech generation speed is not increased.

  1. Press Ctrl+G, select HEX, and go to the beginning of the file.
  2. Make the following replacements:
    • 11DA95: 34 → 4E
    • 11E4E6: 34 → 4E
    • 11E575: 34 → 4E

For GPUs with 8/6 GB VRAM

If Qwen3 is blocked due to the VRAM threshold, you can experimentally lower it from 7680 to 5632 MiB:

  1. Replace at 11E63C: 1E → 16.
  2. Verify the sequence from address 11E63A:
BeforeAfter
20 00 1E 00 0020 00 16 00 00

This may allow 6 GB GPUs to pass the check if other compatibility conditions are met. VRAM consumption is not reduced; stability is not guaranteed. For 4 GB GPUs, this change is insufficient.

To revert: 11E63C: 16 → 1E.

For Low Free RAM

If Qwen3 is blocked due to insufficient free RAM, you can experimentally lower the threshold from 6 to 2 GiB:

  1. Replace at 11E6B5: 18 → 08.
  2. Verify the sequence from address 11E6B3:
BeforeAfter
20 00 18 00 0020 00 08 00 00

Memory usage is not reduced. Delays, swapping, and errors may occur. The total RAM requirement of at least 15000 MiB remains; for PCs with 8 GB RAM, this change is insufficient.

To revert: 11E6B5: 08 → 18.

Saving and Launching

  1. Press Ctrl+S to save the changes.
  2. Start the game, enable Qwen3, and wait for the model to be ready. Test a conversation.

Important Notes

  • Do not use old addresses for version 0.1.81.
  • Only replace bytes—do not insert or delete anything. If the original values differ, stop. Matching individual bytes does not confirm a suitable DLL.
  • According to user testing, stuttering has been eliminated. Results may vary on other PCs.
  • After game updates or for auto-warmup DLLs, separate verification is needed.
  • To revert, close the game and restore the backup or verify file integrity through Steam.
