To register a vehicle in Limp Mode, take it to the Vehicle Registration office and pay the registration fee with cash. To store a registered vehicle, park it in front of that office and choose To garage. For towing, use a tow bar between two cars, or hitch a trailer directly to the rear of the towing car.

Unlock and use the registration office

The village beside your base contains a registration office, but the village shops begin boarded up. Buy the office at its FOR SALE sign before trying to use its services. Purchases for village shops come from your bank account rather than the cash you are carrying. Once bought, the office is available to everyone in the world, including players in co-op.

Registering a vehicle

  1. Bring the vehicle to the Vehicle Registration office.
  2. Use the registration service and pay the fee in cash.
  3. The vehicle becomes one of your personal cars and uses one of your 20 personal vehicle slots.

The registration office is also the place to manage vehicles that are already in your garage. A car does not need to be called in before it can be registered; registration is performed at the office while the vehicle is present.

Sending a car to the garage

Park the car in front of a registration office and select To garage. The car leaves the current world, so it will no longer be physically parked at the office or at your base. It remains available through your garage and does not occupy a visible parking space until you call it in again.

This service only works at a registration office. The phone booth cannot send a locally present vehicle to the garage.

Calling a stored car back

Only vehicles already stored in your garage can be called in. At either a registration office or the base phone booth, open My cars... and select the vehicle you want. Calling a car in costs cash, and the vehicle appears directly behind you.

The garage list can also be viewed from Main menu > Garage > My cars. It shows information such as mileage, engine condition, parts due and fluids. You can rename a car, view its service book, service it where applicable, or sell it; sale money is paid into your bank.

Towing another car

Using a tow bar

  1. Carry a tow bar in your inventory.
  2. Place a second car within 3 metres of the first car.
  3. Right-click the tow bar and choose Attach tow bar.
  4. Connect the two cars; either end of either car can be used.

The tow-bar connection is saved with the world, so it remains linked when the game is saved. Towing also works in co-op, and any player can attach the bar.

Attaching and operating trailers

Trailers do not use a tow bar. Position the rear of your car within 2 metres of the trailer drawbar, then choose Hitch trailer. This applies to both the box trailer and the car trailer.

  • Box trailer: provides 750 litres of storage. Open it at the yellow markers on either side.
  • Car trailer: use Fold ramps up/down to operate the loading ramps, and Tie car down / Release car to secure or unload a vehicle.

Before driving away with a car trailer, fold its ramps up. Trailers can be found as rare items or purchased from a car dealer.
