To play a wand-focused Battlemage in Enshrouded, treat the wand as a fast one-handed caster weapon rather than a simple ranged tool. Your core loop is to land direct hits with standard attacks to fill the Focus Bar, then spend that Focus on the wand's special attack once Wand Specialization is learned. The standard attack fires a small projectile and is affected by Multishot, Ethereal Duplication, and Arcane Proliferation, making it your main single-target and focus-building option. The heavy attack is performed by holding the attack button; it fires a piercing projectile with a small damage radius, but it is not affected by Multishot, Ethereal Duplication, or Arcane Proliferation. Use it when you want piercing coverage rather than projectile count.
Core Wand Moveset
Standard Attack
Tap the attack button to fire a small projectile. This move benefits from projectile-boosting skills and wand properties, so it scales well for single-target damage and for generating Focus through direct hits.
Heavy Attack
Hold the attack button to launch a piercing projectile with a small damage radius. This move is not affected by Multishot, Ethereal Duplication, or Arcane Proliferation. It is useful for lining up enemies, but it will not gain extra projectiles from those sources.
Focus Attack
Learn the Wand Specialization perk first. When the Focus Bar below your action bar is full, press R to unleash the Focus Attack. Your character flashes yellow when the bar is ready. The Focus Attack summons an orb that pulls enemies toward its center and prevents them from attacking. The pull effect does not work on bosses, so use it primarily for crowd control against regular enemies.
Wand Evasion Attack
Unlock the Wand Evasion Attack node in the skill tree. After a dodge or blink, attack immediately to fire a wide, magic-infused disc that pierces multiple enemies in a straight line. This is a strong crowd-control option when enemies are grouped.
Aerial Wand Attack
Unlock the Aerial Wand Attack node. While mid-air during a jump, hold the attack button to unleash a concentrated blast that deals damage and knockback in a wide area. This move replaces the standard aerial heavy attack and is designed for crowd control.
Focus Bar Management
Focus builds when your attacks land direct hits and deal damage. Additional projectiles from Arcane Proliferation, Multishot, and Ethereal Duplication speed up focus generation because each projectile can contribute. Passive procs do not generate Focus; this includes secondary damage from Chain Hit, Mass Destruction, gems, poison, burn, and similar status effects. To use Focus Attack reliably, prioritize direct wand hits and projectile count rather than passive damage sources.

Suggested Build Order
- Take Double Jump early.
- Invest in the Battlemage perks; skip Exalted for now.
- Pick up Wizard, Chain Hit, and Mass Destruction from the Wizard tree.
- Grab two Endurance nodes from the Survivor or Beastmaster trees.
- Starting from your Life Burst node, take Constitution nodes and Earth Aura from the Guardian tree.
- Raise Intelligence and your other damage perks.
- Add utility such as Blink or Life Essence whenever you find it necessary.
Durability and Projectile Synergy
Every projectile fired by a wand costs 1 durability, so multi-projectile wands break faster. Use anvils in ruined structures, villages, and safe checkpoints to repair to maximum, and consider custom map markers to find them again. Eternal Spark helps preserve durability, and gear such as Spectral Ward or Wizard Pants can improve it further. Equipment perks only work once you have at least one level in the relevant skill tree, and equipment can push skills beyond their normal cap. In the third biome, craft portable Repair Kits for longer runs. Carrying spare wands also splits durability consumption and lets you exploit enemy weaknesses.
Early Wand Options
- Voidcaller — from Shroud chests; Shroud damage; Overcharge 30%, Multishot, Ethereal Duplication. Strong against non-Fell creatures.
- Reaper’s Wand — follow the Fox Chase sidequest, then craft at the Alchemist; Shock damage; Multishot and Precise for increased critical strike chance. A reliable general-purpose option, especially with Chain Hit and Mass Destruction.
- Luminous Wand — from Golden chests in Revelwood or the Fell Critter Queen; Fire damage; Multishot. Effective against Fell enemies, Hollows, and furred creatures.
Craftable wands like the Reaper’s Wand can be rebuilt at higher levels as you gather better materials, so they remain viable even if random loot drops are unlucky.
Key Interactions
Overcharge gives wands a damage range instead of a flat value. Ethereal Duplication and Multishot add projectiles, which speeds Focus generation, increases critical strike chances, and triggers on-hit effects more often. Arcane Proliferation duplicates the projectile created by Multishot, but it does not duplicate the projectile created by Ethereal Duplication. The combination of Arcane Proliferation, Multishot, and Ethereal Duplication can allow a wand to shoot up to five projectiles at once. Build around those interactions to make the most of the wand moveset.
Because extra projectiles count as separate strikes, they also let you trigger on-hit effects such as Health Leech, the Gem of Corruption, and the Gem of Currents more often per swing.
