Use dice to heal allies, control or damage monsters, navigate the manor, locate objectives, and regroup your team. Most dice have a 5/6 chance of producing their intended beneficial effect; the remaining 1/6 is a Bad Roll that usually triggers a random chaos event such as lightning, fireworks, a minor monster, or an explosion.
How dice work
- Find dice in drawers, containers, on tables, or on boxes throughout the manor.
- Throw a die and wait for it to land. Its effect is based on the result.
- Unless a die has a listed special Bad Roll, expect a general chaos effect when the roll fails.
- Use dice strategically against monsters, during traversal challenges, and when recovering from a dangerous event.
Dice effects and best uses
| Die | Good Roll | Bad Roll or limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Heal Die | Creates a circular area that heals living players for 50 HP or resurrects players inside it with 10 HP. | General chaos effect. |
| Resurrect Die | Resurrects one random player who has died, even if their body is in an earlier manor arrangement. | Spawns a Player Mimic armed with dice instead of resurrecting a player. If a player dies while carrying this die, it is consumed and revives them instantly. |
| Fire Die | After a short delay, ignites the area where it lands. It can burn flammable objects and damage some monsters. | Ignites the landing area immediately, with no delay. |
| Storm Die | After a short delay, calls down lightning where it lands. The strike damages a player or monster and may ignite the ground. | Lightning strikes immediately, with no delay. |
| Freeze Die | Immobilizes the entity it hits for several seconds. | Ignites the ground where it lands. |
| Cocoon Die | After a short delay, cocoons entities within a radius of its landing point for several seconds. A cocooned player can struggle free. | Triggers the cocoon effect immediately, with no delay. |
| Chaos Die | Triggers one of the six effects represented by its faces. | General chaos effect unless otherwise indicated by the die. |
| Teleport Die | Teleports the thrower to the die's landing location. Use it to bypass obstacles or reach difficult platforms. | Spawns a random minor monster at the landing location, usually a Dress Mannequin or Penguin. |
| Antigravity Die | Reduces gravity in a large spherical area, allowing players to float through it. It is useful for crossing long gaps while carrying idols. | General chaos effect. |
| Scanner Die | Emits a radar pulse from its landing point that reveals interactables through walls and doors, including idols, players, and monsters. Revealed targets glow bright green. | General chaos effect. |
| Rally Die | Teleports all players to the die's landing location. | General chaos effect. |
| Lantern Die | Creates a portable lantern for lighting dark rooms or leaving a marker. Change its light color with the scroll wheel. | General chaos effect. |
| Thread Die | Creates a ball of thread that rolls toward the game room, providing a route back when the team is lost. It is especially useful during the final event. | General chaos effect. |
| Cube Die | Creates a large movable cube that can be used to reach higher areas. | Can only be spawned by the Cube Dice Dispenser purchased from the shop. |
| Firework Die | Creates several fireworks that bounce around the room before exploding. Touching one deals 1 damage. | Can only be spawned by the Firework Dice Dispenser purchased from the shop. |
Practical uses by situation
Healing and reviving
- Throw a Heal Die so the healing area covers injured allies. A living player receives 50 HP; a dead player inside the area returns with 10 HP.
- Use a Resurrect Die when a random previously dead player is acceptable, or keep it in an inventory slot to gain its instant-revival effect if the carrier dies.
Dealing with threats
- Use Fire Dice to ignite flammable surroundings or damage monsters vulnerable to fire.
- Use Storm Dice for delayed or immediate lightning damage and to ignite ground.
- Use Freeze Dice to stop a target for several seconds, but avoid relying on it near combustible ground because a Bad Roll ignites the landing area.
- Use Cocoon Dice to restrain multiple nearby entities. Their Bad Roll activates the effect immediately rather than changing it.
Exploration and rescue
- Throw a Teleport Die toward a reachable destination to cross blocked routes or difficult gaps, but be prepared for a minor monster on a Bad Roll.
- Use an Antigravity Die when transporting idols across a long gap.
- Use a Scanner Die near an unexplored area to reveal idols, players, monsters, and other interactables through walls.
- Drop a Lantern Die's lantern in dark areas as a light source or waypoint.
- Follow a Thread Die back toward the game room when the manor's rearrangement makes navigation difficult.
Regrouping the team
Throw a Rally Die when the team needs to gather at one location. It teleports every player to where the die lands, so choose a safe landing area before activating it.
Dice dispensers
A Dice Dispenser produces the die type shown at the top when interacted with. It recharges as soon as the die it produced is activated and can then be used again indefinitely. Dispensers found in the manor are most commonly Scanner Die or Cocoon Die dispensers.
Shop-only dice
- Cube Dice Dispenser: purchased from the shop and used to spawn Cube Dice for creating movable platforms.
- Firework Dice Dispenser: purchased from the shop and used to spawn Firework Dice. The fireworks can bounce around the room, and contact deals 1 damage.
