Priority Checklist: Create and Use a Custom Blueprint

Goal

Create a blueprint in the Scenario Editor, save it separately from its scenario, copy it into an existing normal-game blueprint category, and place it in a regular game.

Prerequisites

  • Car Park Capital must be installed.
  • The blueprint must be saved as a .cpbp file.
  • The scenario containing the blueprint must also be saved if the editor work will be continued later.

Steps

  1. Open the Scenario Editor through the game menus:

    1. Select New Game.
    2. Choose Custom Scenarios.
    3. Select Create Custom Scenario.
    4. Choose Start Scenario Editor. A scenario name is required.
  2. Build the desired structure, such as an office building, park, building complex, or another construction.
  3. Save the structure as a blueprint:

    1. Open Blueprints.
    2. Choose Create.
    3. Mark the required area.
    4. Save the selection and assign a filename. Use a distinct filename for each blueprint so the saved files are easy to tell apart.
  4. Save the scenario separately so the editor work can be continued:

    1. Choose Save.
    2. Select Save and return to menu.
  5. To reopen the saved scenario, use the following route:

    1. Select New Game.
    2. Choose Custom Scenarios.
    3. Select the saved game.
    4. Open it in the Scenario Editor.

A saved scenario can also be reopened through Custom Scenarios → Continue in Editor. This allows additional blueprints and structures to be created without making a new scenario.

  6. Locate the saved blueprint files. The Steam route to the installation folder is:

    1. Open the Steam library.
    2. Open Car Park Capital.
    3. Click the gear icon on the right.
    4. Choose Manage → Browse local files.

Then open Car Park Capital\saves\blueprints. Custom blueprints use the .cpbp extension, for example MeinGebaeude.cpbp.

  7. Open Car Park Capital\assets\blueprints. The available folders are:

    • small_parking_garages — small parking garages
    • medium_parking_garages — medium parking garages
    • large_parking_garages — large parking garages
    • scenario_editor — Scenario Editor blueprints
  8. Copy the .cpbp file into one of the three parking-garage folders: small_parking_garages, medium_parking_garages, or large_parking_garages. Do not move the original file. Sorting files by size can make them easier to identify later.
  9. Restart Car Park Capital.
  10. Load a normal game save.
  11. Open Blueprints → Place.
  12. Select the parking-garage category into which the file was copied.
  13. Select the custom blueprint when it appears, then place it at the desired location.

Expected Result

The copied blueprint appears in the selected normal-game category and can be placed in a regular game. Buildings and components in the blueprint work there; components such as desks also increase parking pressure in the surrounding area.

Limits

  • Saving a scenario and saving a blueprint are separate functions.
  • An additional subfolder created under assets\blueprints is not recognized as a new in-game category.
  • Custom blueprints for normal-game use must be copied into one of the existing parking-garage folders.
  • Updates or game-file verification may remove files placed directly in the assets folder.

Recovery

Keep backup copies of the original .cpbp files, because an update or file verification may remove the copies stored in the assets folder.

FAQ

Can I create custom blueprint categories?

No additional in-game category is created by adding another subfolder under assets\blueprints. Use one of the existing parking-garage folders when a custom category is not recognized.

Do I have to create a new scenario every time?

No. Once a scenario has been saved, reopen it from Custom Scenarios to create further blueprints there.

Do I need mods or additional programs?

No. Copy the custom blueprint files into an existing blueprint folder without using mods or additional programs.

What happens during a game update?

An update or file verification can remove blueprint files stored in the assets folder. Back up the blueprints beforehand.

Do all buildings and building elements work?

Building elements such as desks function in the surrounding area and increase parking pressure.
