To install the Russian translation for Among the Trolls, obtain the translation archive, extract its contents, and copy the extracted contents into the game’s installation folder. Start the game afterward; the translation replaces the English text. The voice acting remains original, so this installation changes written text and interface language rather than spoken dialogue.

Installation steps

  1. Obtain the Russian translation archive from its distribution source.
  2. Extract the archive with an archive utility. Do not leave the files inside the compressed archive.
  3. Open the folder where Among the Trolls is installed.
  4. Copy the extracted contents into that game folder. Allow the operating system to merge folders and replace files if it asks for confirmation.
  5. Launch the game. According to the supplied installation instructions, the Russian text replaces the English text automatically; no separate in-game language selection is specified.

What the translation covers

The translation is intended to cover the major playable and interface text, including the main menu, graphics, audio, controls, and gameplay settings. It also includes the inventory, items, materials, weapons, potions, recipes, construction text, interaction prompts, hints, notifications, and other interface labels.

  • Anna’s journal, notes, letters, the encyclopedia, and dungeon pages
  • Quest names, descriptions, objectives, dialogue, response choices, and story-scene subtitles
  • Credits, Unreal Engine system windows used by the game, and additional control and interface labels
  • The warning sign concerning the bear

Text that remains unchanged

Installation does not translate every piece of text displayed by the game. Technical identifiers and meaningless test samples remain in their original form. Loader messages shown before the game starts, along with some video-driver or engine crash messages, also remain original. These exceptions do not indicate that the file copy failed.

The original voice acting is retained. The translation also preserves the game’s separate font roles while adding Cyrillic characters to the regular and italic versions of IM Fell Double Pica. The bold and bold-italic EB Garamond styles and the other font roles remain separate. If some startup, crash, or technical text is still not Russian, that behavior is consistent with the stated scope of the translation.

Before launching

  • Make sure the archive has been fully extracted.
  • Copy the contents of the archive into the actual game installation folder, not into an unrelated download or archive folder.
  • Start the game only after the copy operation has completed.
